Synopsis
A love story doomed by the forces of history. Inspired by true events.
Constantinople, summer of 1876.
When Hamid and Flora meet, it's love at first sight but of a forbidden kind. He is third in line to the throne and Muslim, and she, a Christian and a free-thinking British glove maker engaged to be married to an important banker.
Rebellion, famine, and religious strife plague the crumbling Ottoman empire, and foreign powers battle to control the throne. At the helm is the megalomaniac mad man, Sultan Abdelaziz.
Flora and Hamid defy it all to pursue their love, but can it survive in the face of prejudice and hate? And can it withstand the powerful forces of history which propel Hamid to the throne?
