Synopsis

Alex can’t understand why Nadia is with
Ethan. Nadia is the most beautiful girl in Freedom, New Hampshire, and Ethan is
a grade-A jerk.

But as Alex observes the budding relationship,
his jealousy turns to worry. Historical research and some damning photos reveal
Ethan’s dark side. Alex is sure Ethan is a threat to Nadia’s very life, but
Nadia won’t listen to him.

In the meantime Alex is developing his own
strange supernatural abilities, a teenage girl claims to have been attacked by
a vampire, and wolves are roaming the forests around Freedom—along with a
mysterious and deadly dark man. As Alex fights for Nadia’s safety, he uncovers
a network of ancient supernatural beings, and the secrets of his own dimly
remembered past.

The Setting of the Board is the first in Mike Yeaton’s Last of
the Twenty series, a collection of young adult vampire tales that’s more Salem’s Lot than Twilight.
