Synopsis
A grown up Red Riding Hood bonded to a wolf and trying to save a conceited crown prince from off world assassins.
What could go wrong?
Aria Rosen was always a bit odd to the average villager. She had no friends and no prospects, despite her very marriageable age and slightly better-than-average looks. The gossip hens in the city worried she’d never find a man to tame her, especially with her oddhobbies.
Aria never wanted a man to tame her. She wanted her sister healthy, her family whole again, and her city safe. Two of those were possible, but her father was never coming home, and she knew her family would never be whole without him. But she worried the other two wishes would be just as lost as her father.
When she overhears a conversation of a man determined to assassinate the Crown Prince Arin, she finds she has a choice. Join the Prince Protector trials and attempt to save the conceited princeling or let him die.
It should be a simple choice—her family is slowly dying of starvation, her sister has an illness no healer can cure, and no one will hire a girl with no father. Besides, trying to keep the innocents safe on the streets at night is a full-time task.
But Aria knows she can’t let someone die, even if it’s the blasted Crown Prince who looks with disdain at the people he’s supposed to serve. There were assassins after him from anotherso of course she put aside their differences to fight with him. Even if he didn't know the Sir Ri by his side was a girl—or did he?
And that simple choice leads her on a journey, a discovery of things hidden, of wars on other worlds, of secrets and powers best left to go bump in the night.
But when Red Riding Hood and her wolf put their minds to something, not even the hounds of Sixth can stop them.
And King help anyone who tries. Aria’s wolf is hungry, and she’s not against eating her enemies.
Four known worlds, two unknown. And a girl who fights to save them all.
Aria Rosen never wanted to be Gifted. She wanted her sister healthy, her family whole again, and her city safe. Two of those were possible, but her father was never coming home, and she knew her family would never be whole without him.
The war is coming to a head. The other world will stop at nothing to overtake Irisia and her people. And the only thing standing between them and the destruction of life on the four worlds as we know it is a single girl and a Gift she can’t control.
Aria doesn’t have a choice. She must learn to work with her Gift instead of against it… or all hope is lost and everything she fought and sacrificed for will be for naught.
But in the midst of losing it all, she finds the one thing she never should’ve lost.
Herself.
